Luci + Kibera


Kibera is Kenya’s largest slum. Home to over 1 million residents, it’s a sprawling, dirty informal settlement where many are poor and lack basic necessities like water and electricity. But in all this darkness, we tried to show there’s still hope in the form of a little solar light called Luci. Hundreds of lights were sent to Kibera and distributed to residents too poor to afford electricity.

The crew spent 2 weeks in Kibera getting to know the residents. There was no script but 3 loose themes of education, women entrepreneurship and clean energy to replace kerosene lamps. Over the weeks, we identified several key residents to be our hero in each film, capturing their day to day lives living without access to electricty. Read the full blog here.
